WE HAVE established that one of the most effective strategies the devil uses to keep some Christians defeated is to stir up pride in them. The devil generates pride in us to move us away from God.
We can’t rebel against God’s Word, His Spirit and His ordained authorities – both spiritual and civil – and expect to rule and reign in life. Again, we can’t do anything to rob God of His glory and honour without any consequences.
Once we become arrogant, haughty, lofty and proud, the Father will set Himself against us, resist us, oppose us and frustrate us. The Bible is replete with several examples where God opposed men.
Pride was the reason why God rejected Saul, the first king of lsrael. Saul rebelled against the commandment given him concerning the Amalikites. Belthshassar, the son of Nebuchadnezzar lost his life and the kingdom because of pride. The two sons of Aaron died in God’s presence because they pridefully burned incense with strange fire (1 Sam 15; Dan 5; Lev. 10).
We need, therefore, guard against pride, and cloth ourselves with humility which is our protection.
