Here Is One Question Jesus Is Asking You; Can You Confidently Answer Him?

By James Quansah

THE LORD Jesus doesn’t want any of His disciples to lack knowledge, understanding and education about the Bible. He expects everyone who can read to make time to read it.

Jesus Himself was an avid reader of the Scriptures when He walked the earth. He read them so that He could live to please the Father, overcome temptations, teach others, answer questions and fulfil His public ministry.

But many of His disciples today don’t like to read to be properly informed. These Christians are like the Pharisees and Sadducees who failed to read the Scriptures and as a result were disgraced for their ignorance.

As they stood before Jesus, He asked them twice, “HAVE YOU NOT READ…(Matthew 12:3,5).

Jesus will surely ask you the same question today when you wrongly accuse someone of failing to practise the Word, when you pay money for healing, deliverance or anointing, when you assume every pastor is a servant of God, when you demand that people address you with a special title, when you pray to kill your enemies, when you habitually attend church meetings late.

Anytime we demonstrate ignorance of the Word of God, Jesus asks the same question: HAVE YOU NOT READ? The Lord Jesus must be very angry with Christians, who don’t read the Bible and other Christian materials.

Paul told Timothy to focus on reading the Scriptures (1 Timothy 4:13). And John Wesley said, “Read or get out of the ministry.”

Among the many things God hates is ignorance. Yes, He badly hates ignorance which means a lack of knowledge, understanding and education.

God is saddened when His children refuse to read so that they can know and understand what they do. Knowledge about the Bible and the Christian faith is important to God because lack of it leads to death.

Let’s us, therefore, decide from today to make a deliberate attempt to read for our own good and for the glory of God.
