21 Benefits You Get From Reading, Hearing And Living By God’s Word

“The wise men shall be put to shame; they shall be dismayed and taken; behold, they have rejected the word of the LORD, so what wisdom is in them?” (Jeremiah 8:9)

Some people think that time spent reading and hearing God’s Words regularly is time wasting. They are ignorant or forget the numerous benefits we get from it.

In this message, I present to you 21 benefits you can get from making quality time to read, hear and live by God’s Word.

1. You Get Faith

“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ” (Romans 10:17).

2. You Receive Salvation

“And how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus” 2Timothy 3:15).

“Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls” (James 1:21).

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6a).

3. You Avoid Error and Deception

“But Jesus answered them, “You are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God” (Matthew 22:29).

4. God Accepts You as His Priest

“Because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me” (Hosea 4:6b).

5. God Remembers Your Children

“And since you have forgotten the law of your God,

 I also will forget your children” (Hosea 4:6c).

6. You Feed Your Spirit with It

But he answered, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God” ( Matthew 4:4).

7. You Become Prosperous and Successful

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success” (Joshua 1:8).

8. You Become Pure and Holy

“How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word” (Psalm 119:9).

9. You use it as Your Spiritual Sword 

“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God” (Ephesians 6:17).

10. You are Empowered to Teach Others

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom” (Colossians 3:16).

11. You will be Fed with Knowledge and Understanding

“And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding” (Jeremiah 3:15).

12. You are Recognized as True Disciple of Christ Jesus

“So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples” (John 8:31).

13. You will be Set Free From the Controlling Power of Sin

 “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32).

14. You Won’t Sin Habitually

“I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you” (Psalm 119:11).

15. You Won’t Go Astray

“Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I keep your word” (Psalm 119:67).

16. You Grow up Into Salvation

“Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation” (1 Peter2:2).

17. You Walk in Light

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105).

18. It Revives Your Soul

“The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul” (Psalm 19:7a).

19. It Makes You Wise

“The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple” (Psalm 19:7b).

20. It Rejoices Your Heart

“The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart” (Psalm 19:8a).

21. It  Enlightens Your Eye of Faith

“The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes” (Psalm 19:8b).

You can see that reading and hearing God’s Word is not just important but beneficial.
