Some social commentators, content creators and social media influencers and users in this generation have resolved to use every opportunity to push for the establishment of a world without God.
Part of their strategy is to discredit the Bible, mock the belief that there is a Supreme God in heaven, despise pastors and attack the Church. They also challenge the infallibility of the Bible as the Word of God, raising questions about its practicality to modern life and development.
Most of them are atheists, a small group of people who do not believe in deities, particularly the God of the Bible.
They do these things simply because they are agents of darkness and do not want to be accountable to God so that they can be free to engage in anything that seems right in their own eyes.
Let it be understood that a person can be a scientist or a philosopher and yet lack the ability to reason properly or be morally bankrupt.
Now, what will a world without God and the Bible be? Obviously, it will be a world without the knowledge of God, wisdom of God, fear of God and glory of God.
It will be a world devoid of churches; and if there are no churches, then, there will be no preaching and teaching of the gospel to save souls and promote virtue in the world.
Unsaved people are diseased in their souls. Sin, evil, lawlessness or wickedness is the disease of the soul which is the greatest problem and the cause of most problems in the world.
In the words of Dr. Emmanuel Twumasi-Ankrah, “Had it not been the church, there would have been too many thieves, including me to contend with, too many cases of suicide, murder, corruption, divorce, fornication, adultery…”
Moreover, there will be no church-run universities, schools and colleges; there will be no church-run hospitals, clinics, health centres, orphanages, philanthropic organisations, publishing houses, bookshops, recording studios, movies, theatres, restaurants, tourism sites, farms and several other businesses.
Consequently, unemployment and poverty will be unmanageable in many countries. In fact, there will be little motivation for scientific investigations and inventions as most scientific research works are triggered by biblical claims.
Atheists forget or lose sight of the fact that most advanced nations of the world were built on the principles of the Bible.
“In Europe and America the Church has been the greatest force in shaping the world in which we live” (Roland H. Bainton).
Bainton continues that: “Universities, schools and colleges, hospitals and asylums, better prisons, kinder laws, the ending of slavery and duelling, and the attempt to end war and bring in the brotherhood of man, all these have been in large measure the work of the Church.”
Indeed, the Bible is the greatest source of wisdom for commerce, business, governance, agriculture, architecture, financial management, construction, mathematics, banking, security, justice, marriage, rule of law, democracy, kingship, parenthood, contentment, self-control and discipline.
One can can mention several other important contributions the Church has made in the development of nations. Moreover, the Bible is still used to teach mankind to live life of love, faith, righteousness and peace.
And so we can perceive a world atheists seek to build without God. It will be akin to the world of Sodom and Gomorrah where people indulged in pervert acts, detestable deeds and profane conducts. The entire people of Sodom were homosexuals and lesbians; they indulged in anal and oral sex (sodomy) openly without a shame.
It seemed Sodom and Gomorrah had no Bible for preaching and teaching the people. When people are alienated from the life of God even what is despicable becomes acceptable to them.
But there cannot be a world without God because God is the source of life, the possessor of the earth and everything that is in it. God is the maker of the universe. He has revealed Himself in all His creations and the Bible.
In particular, God is instinctively known to man. Paul writes that: “For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them.
For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse” (Romans 1:19-20).
