We have emphasised in this series that the glory of God should not be understood merely in terms of supernatural experiences, miracles, signs and wonders, or visible demonstrations of divine power. God’s glory is also about His character, goodness, love, holiness, faithfulness, compassion, mercy and other virtues.
Therefore, the manifestation of God’s glory means making His nature, character, virtues, presence and power known through our lives.
Jesus Christ, our pattern, model and standard, manifested God’s glory through supernatural works and also through His character, love, compassion, holiness, obedience and humility (John 2:11; 11:40;14:9).
The two important ways in which believers manifest God’s glory are through supernatural works and by reflecting His nature and character in their lives.
God can work through us to perform supernatural works and manifest His glory. We can also manifest His glory by reflecting His nature and character in our lives as we depend on His grace.
Love, therefore, is one of the highest expressions of God’s glory in the believer’s life. When we demonstrate genuine love through our words, works, attitudes, relationships and dealings with others, we make something of God’s nature visible through our lives and manifest His glory (Ephesians 5:1-2).
When we manifest God’s glory through our words, works, character, attitudes and love for others, we become a light to the world. As Jesus taught in Matthew 5:16, we should let our light shine before others so that they may see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven.
Therefore, the ultimate purpose of manifesting God’s glory through our lives is not to draw attention to ourselves, but to make God known and bring glory and honour to His name.
