Abiding In God’s Light To Enjoy His Blessings

By James Quansah, Pastor

IN THE last teaching, we understood that believers in Christ enjoy blessings, benefits and provisions in the Kingdom of God. We also considered that in God’s kingdom or in His marvelous light, Christians have been made partakers of His inheritance in the light. Thus in the domain of light, God expects His children to arise and shine (Isaiah 60:1).

Now, in this article, we want to emphasise that all believers are light in the Lord. This is why Jesus Christ told His disciples, “YOU ARE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden…In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 5: 14- 16).

And if believers in Christ are light, then, God’s glory truly rests upon them. It is high time Christians received this truth, walked as children of light and enjoyed the various benefits there are for them as they live in the light.

The light of God serves as a protective covering for believers in Christ because the powers of darkness operate only in the domain of darkness. In other words, believers enjoy God’s protection as long as they abide in the light of God.

“The night is almost gone, the day of salvation will soon be here. So remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes and put on the shining armour of right living” (Romans 13:12). And as long as the believer walks in the light, the angels of light accompany him to protect, defend and preserve him. For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. (Psalm 91:11 Amp).

Moreover, believers have fellowship with the Godhead, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. With this position, Christians can also resist the powers of darkness in Jesus’ name if they show up to devour or oppose them in their operations. Believers exercise authority over the enemy and his cohorts as long they submit to God by walking in the light of His Word.

Now, Christians’ responsibility is to abide in the domain of God’s marvellous light in order for them to enjoy the glory, the blessings and the provisions in the kingdom. Every good and perfect gift comes from the Father of lights. Walking in love, God’s purpose and plan keep disciples of Christ in the sphere of light. However, believers risk being driven away from the kingdom of light back into darkness if they practise sin.

The Bible says, “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called YOU OUT OF DARKNESS INTO HIS MARVELLOUS LIGHT” (1 Peter 2:9).

A Christian who walks in the light or allows the light to shine in their life brings many into the Father’s kingdom. Light cannot abide in darkness and darkness cannot overpower light in anyway
