VISIONARY LEADERS are builders. They mostly build houses. The Lord Jesus Christ believes in buildings and spoke a lot about them. He essentially spoke about building His Church – a spiritual house. Noah built the Ark, which was a type of house. Moses built tabernacles and King Solomon built a magnificent temple for God. Most leaders are remembered for the houses they built.
Generally, houses are important for habitation, shelter, security, defense, safety and above all promoting togetherness. Thus, house owners are often regarded as great achievers in various parts of the world. This includes Christians who choose to build their own houses in their lifetime. A Christian may build his personal house and a church auditorium and spiritual house.
There is no doubt that many Christians contribute great resources to put up magnificent temples for the name of God. Most Christian churches in Ghana organize fund-raising services in November and December every year to enable them to undertake special landed projects. The projects can be temples, schools or hospitals.
While some of these projects are completed within one year, others take decades to complete depending upon their sizes and availability of funds. It took 46 years for the Jews to build the Jerusalem Temple (John 2: 20).
Most Christians especially pastors feel fulfilled for being able to put up church buildings. Putting up a church building is one of the difficult things in ministry. I served as a deacon for years and currently I serve as a pastor so I know what I am talking about. The Lord’s church I am shepherding, for example, needs a spacious meeting place.
It is a great achievement to get a permanent spacious place of worship for a church and personal dwelling. Christians who freely and willingly contribute money and other materials to put up church buildings from sincere hearts truly love God. And Jesus Christ is always ready to help them (Luke 7: 1- 6).
