No human being conceived of a man has authority in himself to deliver a sinful person from sin’s slavery. It takes someone with superior power to set him free. And only the Lord Jesus Christ has power to break sin’s power to set its captives free.
He came down from heaven to conquer sin for all those who genuinely believe in Him. He is able to sets free because He committed no sin.
“She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1: 21). “…the reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3: 8).
“The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1: 29)!
Everyone who comes to God is first a sinner. Everyone has the Adamic sinful nature; it is inherited. This is why the Bible says we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.
You must recognize this and humble yourself for the Holy Spirit to work on you. As you sincerely believe in Christ Jesus in your heart and confess Him with your mouth as your Lord and Saviour, Salvation takes place in your spirit.
You receive God’s seed, the Holy Spirit, to abide in you. You receive God’s righteousness through Christ Jesus. The Bible says, “For our sake he (God the Father) made him (Christ Jesus) to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Corinthians 5: 21).
With this provision, God sees true Christians as righteous people through Christ Jesus. This, however, does not mean you are saved from the presence of sin. There are still sins fighting you from the world in which you live.
This is why the Bible says if we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us (1 John 1:8). But a true regenerate believer in Christ does not deliberately practice sin.
I mean, sin will not have power to control him, making him a slave again. Rather, he strives towards perfection in holiness (2 Corinthians 7:1).
You know that he (Jesus) appeared in order to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or knows him. Little children, let no one deceive you.
Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning.
As the Holy Spirit of God reveals and warns you of sins in your life, you must cooperate with Him to overcome those sins.
When you yield to the leading and counsel of the Spirit of Christ who dwells in your heart, you will overcome sin, the flesh, the world and Satan himself. Remember, the Lord first overcame them all on the Cross for all believers.
And if we are tempted to sin, we may fall but we will surely rise again. God’s child can fall and rise again. “Rejoice not over me, O my enemy; when I fall, I shall rise…” (Micah 7: 8).
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1: 9).
Sin is the cause of most diseases and deaths. If you do not stop sin, it will stop you. If you do not rise up to give your life to Christ today, sin will take you to hell tomorrow; it will destroy your marriage, future, destiny.
There is only one Saviour, Jesus Christ. Run to Him now for the salvation of your soul, and you will enjoy a victorious life in God. Amen!
