Fornication, Adultery: How ‘Sweet’?

What Is Sexual Immorality? Meaning & Consequences from the Bible

MANY PEOPLE especially the unmarried are seriously learning various methods of having impressive sexual bouts with their partners these days.

They are mastering different sex positions and styles. They want to gain admiration from their partners in bed.

To ensure energetic thrusting during lovemaking, some men take drugs. They want to feel that they are super guys.

Many young folks boast of their ability to run several sex partners at ease. A number of them consider this as an achievement. How sad!

Now, the question is: are these people doing these things without being influenced? Certainly they are. The words of some health professionals encourage them.

They explain that sex reduces blood pressure, counts as exercise, induces sleep in men, improves women’s bladder control, boosts immune system, relieves pain and improves mental health.

And many are driven by the desire to satisfy their libido. They want to enjoy and have pleasure.

As a result, fornication and adultery are rampant. Nearly everyone is indulging in sexual immorality. Even some Christians who are supposed to be moral gatekeepers of society do it without shame.

However, they do not pay attention to the negative effects of fornication, adultery and other acts of sexual immorality. In fact, sex cannot always be ‘sweet’; sometimes it is bitter.

A Kumasi Gender-based court recently sentenced a 66-year-old security man, Antwi Gyeabour, to 15 years’ imprisonment in hard labour for sleeping with a 12-year-old girl. It was defilement.

About five or ten minutes of sexual pleasure threw him into jail for 15 solid years and brought shame upon himself and his family.

Moreover, Solomon Addae Mensah, a 44-year-old electrician who was also alleged to have repeatedly slept with his biological daughter for two years was arrested.

Similarly, a 28-year-old gold dealer in Obuasi, Kwame Asenso, confessed to experiencing some spiritual attacks after having sex with over 183 women and used their vaginal fluids for money rituals.

King David suffered severe punishment after he committed adultery with Bathsheba, another man’s wife.

“Now, therefore, the sword will never depart from your house, because you despised me and took the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your own.”

“This is what the Lord says: ‘Out of your own household I am going to bring calamity upon you. Before your very eyes I will take your wives and give them to one who is close to you, and he will lie with your wives in broad daylight.” (2 Samuel 12: 9- 11, NIV).

Sampson chased girls here and there. One day he got hooked to Delilah who eventually dispossessed him of his anointing.

King Solomon was lured into paganism and other foolish things by his sexual escapades, greed and fascination of the world. He was drawn away from his God in the latter part of his life.

Shechem, a prince, who seized Dinah, daughter of Leah borne to Jacob, and raped and humiliated her, paid for his ungodly actions. Dinah’s brothers killed him (Genesis 34).

However, Joseph, an overseer in the house of Potiphar, left his garment in the hand of master’s wife, fled when she attempted to persuade him to lie with her.

Joseph knew that ungodly sex could not just be ‘sweet’; horny strings are attached to it.

“Flee from sexual immorality. Every sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body” (1 Corinthians 6: 18).

Five Reasons To Run Away From Sexual Immorality
