WHEN WE visit God’s library and read its books we receive divine information about the will of our Creator for us to live a life that pleases Him.
While in the world doing ministry, the Lord Jesus Christ said God the Father was with Him. He did not leave Him alone because He always did what was pleasing to Him (John 8:29).
We can do things that please God in order for us to have His presence with us if we spend adequate time reading, studying and obeying His commandments. Without daily Bible reading, we will find it difficult knowing the will of God and walking as children of light.
Reading, listening and asking questions about the Word of God is so important in our fellowship with the Lord. Our Saviour, Jesus Christ started doing this at the age of 12 (Luke 2:46).
Similarly, a true Christian will not like to pray to God without reading or hearing the Word of God to receive divine counsel. God designed our relationship with Him this way: as we pray to Him, we must also hear from Him particularly from the written Word.
Unfortunately, today, there are many Christians who pray but boycott Bible studies. They do not know that God hears the prayers of Christians who study and obey His commands. This is why many of us pray but we have very little testimony to share. I mean, our prayers are not answered.
When we kneel, stand or sit to pray to our heavenly Father, we do not just say anything we like. We are to pray according to God’s will; and God’s will is revealed in His Word. So to pray is to quote scriptures, reminding God about His own promises. How can we quote scriptures to fill our prayers if we do not like Bible studies?
Jesus Christ said, “If you remain in me and MY WORDS REMAIN IN YOU, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you” (John 15: 7). God hates the prayers of Christians who have no time for Bible studies (Proverbs 28: 9).
Have we also forgotten what the Bible says concerning faith? It says, “And without faith it is impossible to please God…” (Hebrews 11:6). It is difficult or impossible for a faithless Christian to get his prayers answered.
This brings us to how we can have faith. The Bible says a believer receives faith in God by hearing and obeying the Word of God. That is, the more you study and hear the preaching and teaching of God’s Word, keep it in your heart and obey it, faith comes to you (Romans 10:17).
If students find time to go to the library to study in order to pass their examinations, we Christians must also visit God’s mobile library (which is the Bible) and study and obey its teachings to have solutions to our problems.
Remember God’s Word makes a fool wise; it heals, delivers, redeems, saves and rules.
“I believe the Bible is the best gift God has ever given to man. All the good from the Saviour of the world is communicated to us through this Book” (Abraham Lincoln).
