We established in a previous message that for us to stand in the true grace of God, we need to know and understand the grace of God that has come to us through Christ and the Gospel of the grace of God which was entrusted to the foundational apostles and prophets.
However, many ministers are twisting the Gospel of God’s grace today. They are turning the grace of God upside down thereby leading ignorant believers to indulge in indescent behaviour. Often they make some claims including those stated below:
1) Since the saving grace of God wasn’t based on one’s performance or perfection, God doesn’t really care about how one lives after the new birth experience.
2) God sees us in Christ with our new nature and all that we have become in Him so how we live today is of no importance.
3) We have received forgiveness of all our past, present and future sins so the sins we commit today are of no consequence, and
4) God’s love for us and His acceptance of us is not based on our works or performance so we are free to do whatever we want and live any way we like.
The reality is that several Christians are carried away by these erroneous teaching, due to their lack of indepth understanding of the true grace of God. We must all understand this: grace is never divine permission to do what is wrong; it is divine empowerment to do what is right.
