You probably have read about Church service in previous articles on this website. In this short but revealing teaching, I want us to explore three important truths about services that are rendered in churches.
Service Is Worship
First, serving in the church is not just activity—it is worship. True service flows from love for God and gratitude for His grace. Every act done in faith and love becomes a sweet-smelling aroma to God.
Service Strengthens the Church Body
Second, when each member serves faithfully, the church matures.
Paul teaches in Ephesians 4:16 that “the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”
A church where every member discovers and uses their gift becomes spiritually healthy and fruitful. We don’t just fill roles; we supply strength to the whole body.
Service Reflects Christ’s Character
Third, Jesus did not come to be served, but to serve (Mark 10:45). Serving in the church is one of the clearest ways we reflect His heart to others.
Whether seen or unseen, every service role shapes us into the image of Christ—the Servant King. When we serve, we display His humility, His love, and His mission to reach the lost and edify the saints.
