Leadership: Like People Like Priest

” And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings” (Hosea 4:9).

The phrase Like people , like priest, is an eye and ear opener to both Leadership and followership in all generations. Like people like the priest could be rephrased as like followers,  like leaders , like sons like fathers , like daughters like mothers,like workers like the C.E.O , like students like teachers , like citizens like politicians,  like  customers like the company, like the congregation like  Pastors, like people like the community or like children like parents.

This is a backward march in the 21st century generation instead of the forward march into peace and progress. Today, society has been destroyed, values ignored,principles overlooked and futures sold on the altar of backwardness.

We live in a backward society in the face of our technological advancement because we have short-circuited  the forward march where leaders were in the lead and followers in the following.

The forward march is thrown away and replaced with the backward march in the home, community, school, malls and the churches.

How did it begin? One may question. It is when the equation was changed from like the priest like the people to like the people like the priest.

How can an employer dictate the pace, how can a student dictate the pace,how can the children dictate the pace , how can the people dictate the pace of the country, how can followers dictate the pace and how can the congregation dictate the pace of the church?

Ours is the like the people like the priest generation. I call it not going anywhere generation. How can the sheep lead the shepherd ?

This is where we have gotten to as a people. Like the people like the priest. We need a shift of direction to the old paths of life.( Jeremiah 6:16 )

In a world where followers and leaders have become equal and everyone is wise, and everyone knows it all, the consequence will be a backward society.

Until leaders find their place in the home, organisation, nation and the church, we will be struggling to be fulfilled as human beings on earth.

It’s time for leaders to lead and followers to follow for a forward march into destiny by the divine counsel of God.

Prophet Hosea saw it right and it affected Israel. If we don’t take wisdom today it will put us on the backward gear. Let’s do as the occasion demands now.
