Not The Words of Moses or Isaiah But Jesus Christ

WE LEARNT in a previous teaching that it is the Christ in us by His Word through the Holy Spirit that makes us Christians.

This is why the Lord Jesus Christ instructed the foundational apostles and all ministers to teach and preach His commands for believers to observe them.

The Lord’s instruction is for the purpose of building Himself up in all His disciples to make them Christians. It is for this same purpose that the foundational apostles preached the gospel to ensure that Christ was formed in the disciples.

Paul wrote, “My little children; for whom I am again in the anguish of childbirth until CHRIST IS FORMED IN YOU” (Galatians 4: 19).

Three Old Testament books that are not only interesting, educative, inspiring but also revealing are Genesis, Exodus and Psalms, yet Paul advises Christians to “Let the WORD OF CHRIST dwell in you richly…” (Colossians 3: 16).

I wonder why Paul, a Jew of the tribe of Benjamin trained as a Pharisee did not say “let word of Moses, Isaiah or David dwell in you richly”, but stressed on the Word of Christ.

We need to understand that all the inspired words of Moses, Isaiah, David and others are the Word of God, but they ministered under a different dispensation for a different divine purpose. Most of their messages were given to prepare the minds and hearts of believers in their day for the first coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ.

This means Paul’s exhortation in Colossians 3:16 was not a mistake; he knew what he was talking about. He and the early ministers of God understood their mandate to preach the gospel of Christ Jesus.

They understood the instructions of the Lord Jesus to teach His commands to prepare righteous Christians for His second coming.

There is no doubt that a minister who is truly called and sent by the Lord Jesus will preach and teach all that Jesus Christ commanded for His Church to observe.

This is to ensure that Christ Jesus is formed in the heart of believers so as to be true disciples of Christ sealed with the Holy Spirit.
