Revival is a divine work of God in the hearts of His people, bringing them back to spiritual life, passion, and holiness (Psalm 119:25; Hosea 6:1-2). In this divine visitation, spiritual vitality, a passion for God, and a fresh move of the Holy Spirit in the church are restored (Acts 4:31; Ezekiel 37:9-10).
The church needs to be awakened to this vital truth: revival is not something we passively wait for—it is something we must thirst and hunger for (Matthew 5:6; Isaiah 44:3). God responds to those who seek Him (Jeremiah 29:13). Throughout history, revival has been birthed and sustained through prayer (Acts 1:14; 2:42; 4:23-31; 5:12-14).
Therefore, the church must always pray for revival in these key areas:
1. Pray for God to stir hearts with a deep hunger for His Word, a passion for holiness, and a zeal to serve (Psalm 42:1-2; 1 Peter 1:15-16).
2. The church must pray for a mighty move of the Spirit (Acts 2:17-18; lsaiah 32:15).
3. We must ask God to remove every form of lukewarmness, compromise, and complacency that has crept into the church (Revelation 3:15-16; Romans 13:11).
4. We must pray for God to awaken leaders, pastors, and shepherds to preach the truth with boldness and power (Acts 4:29-31; 2 Timothy 4:2).
5. We must pray for the Spirit to breathe new life into the church, that signs, wonders, and miracles will accompany the preaching of the Gospel, and that souls will be added to the Kingdom (Mark 16:20; Acts 5:12-14).
6. We must pray for a revival of prayer, intercession, love, and unity in the church (Colossians 4:2; John 13:34-35; Ephesians 4:3).
The church must come alive—God can not use a dead, sleeping, or lukewarm church to accomplish His purpose on earth. If we desire to see His glory, power, and salvation in this generation, we must cry out for revival.
