Preaching God’s Word Is Preaching Jesus Christ

A faithful servant of Christ Jesus will not teach or preach about anything without glorifying the Lord in the message.

A true servant of Christ understands that to teach the Word of God to a church or preach it for sinners to be saved is to deliver an inspired message prepared to honour Jesus.

I know some people may argue with me about this and call me names, but they must know that the Lord Jesus is the Word that became flesh (John 1:14).

Again, Christ is referred to as the Word of God (Revelation 19:13). Undoubtedly, Christ and the Word are one. Therefore, to preach the Word is to preach about Jesus Christ.

Moreover, He is the life of all Christians (Colossians 3:4). So, if you want your message to be full of life, then, you have got to prepare it around Jesus Christ. Only Jesus authoritatively said, “I am the life” (John 11:25). Yes, in Him alone is life.

If a preaching or teaching does not honour Christ, does not testify to the truths about Jesus, does not promote the doctrine of Christ and does not agree with the sound knowledge of the Lord Jesus, it will have no life. It will be lifeless, dry and idle.

Without argument, sincere testimony of Jesus releases the power of the Holy Spirit as it is written, “For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy,” (Revelation 19:10).

A genuine prophet testifies to the truths about Jesus. He leads believers to the Lord, his Master. He guides believers to have faith in the saving grace of Christ who is God.

A prophet or minister who claims to have been called into ministry and is filled with the Holy Spirit, will preach about nothing except Jesus Christ.

Therefore, good biblical messages intended to edify, build up, develop, perfect or comfort Christians should be wired around Jesus Christ. Our messages must glorify Him, considering that “without Him was not anything made that was made”.

A sincere servant of Christ will imitate the early apostles to preach and teach about Christ. He will preach about how Christ conquered Satan and sin on the Cross.

He will preach about the revelation and preeminence of the Lord (Colossians 1:15-23), the character of Christ, the suffering of Christ, the love of Christ, the mediatorial role of Christ among others.

A faithful minister of Christ will teach about how Christ fasted and prayed, how He trained His disciples, how He obeyed the Father, how He reacted to His critics, mockers and enemies.

Finally, he will preach and teach the whole counsel of God concerning Christ Jesus. In fact, he will be committed to preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, paying attention to the mystery of Christ.
