Renew Your Mind to the Truth of God’s Love

We have spent the last six months, discussing various topics on the God-kind of love. Today, we want to recap some of the messages.

We need to renew our minds to the magnitude and depth of God’s love for us. God chose us in Christ because of His love even before the world began.

In the new birth experience, the Father accepted us in His beloved Son to love us just as He loves Him .

Thus, nothing can separate us from God’s love for us in Christ (Jn. 17:23; Eph. 1:6:Rom. 8:35).

The reality is that the Father, through His Spirit, poured a measure of His own love into our hearts in regeneration (Rom.5:5).

It will profit all of us to renew our minds to the various characteristics of the God-kind of love shed in our hearts, as revealed in Paul’s epistle to the church of Corinth.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (AMPC):

4 Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily. 5 It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong]. 6 It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail. 7 Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening].

As we put the God-kind of love into action and walk in its various characteristics, we will begin to experience  all the Father’s goodness, build healthy relationships, close every door to the enemy and attract many to Christ as we showcase God’s character and nature to the world.

In our next teaching, we will discuss the offender’s role in facilitating forgiveness, fostering reconciliation, and promoting restoration. We often place a lot of focus on the victims without considering the offender’s role, which is significant in the process of healing those we hurt, harm, and wrong.
