The Challenge of the Prophetic Ministry in The Last Days

The prophetic ministry faces a great challenge in this last days and the dispensation in which we live based on people’s understanding of the prophetic calling and practice.

The prophetic ministry is very lovely and attractive, but if it is not handled by mature men who have deeper understanding of the call, it causes destructions in the lives of individuals, families, relationships, homes, businesses and even churches.

Many people who function in the prophetic have not come to the place of understanding that the prophetic is not just about speaking revelations and delivering people from afflictions, but also to prepare souls for eternity.

This is the reason why many believers who attend churches that are dominated by the prophetic do not have the discipline to live with godly character for the salvation of their souls and honour the name of God.

This happens because most prophetic ministries in various parts of the world have made the prophetic look like a solution-based ministry instead of salvation-based ministry.

However, we see from the examples of the Master Prophet, Christ Jesus, how He went about His prophetic ministry with the intent to save people at every encounter He had with them.

Through His prophetic anointing, Christ healed the woman with the issue of blood, because the healing power resides in the prophetic mantle (Mark 5:30-34).

Moreover, Jesus through the prophetic grace, brought restoration to the young man whose marriage ceremony at Cana was about to be embarrassed by shortage of wine.

Now, Zacchaeus who could be described in today’s language as a scammer was also saved by the prophetic mantle of Christ Jesus; thus, he later became a great kingdom asset of our lord Jesus Christ (Luke 19:1-10).

We also read about the Samaritan woman who became a national evangelist after her encounter with Christ Jesus’ prophetic ministry.

“And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did. So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days. And many more believed because of his own word; And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world (John 4:39-42).
This clearly shows how the prophetic ministry is not a fancy show but a serious calling for the making and establishment of men.

When we journey through the Old Testament, we see from the early prophets such as Abraham, Moses, Elijah , Elisha, Daniel, Samuel, Isaiah, Ezekiel and others how their prophetic ministries emphasized the salvation of men.

Thus, they warned God’s people who rebelled, leading to their deliverance, installing leadership, bringing direction of God’s plan to mankind, whetting the appetite of people for the things of God, and igniting the vengeance of God for the termination of harlotry and idol worship.

Today, many prophetic ministries are more concerned about people’s breakthroughs than the establishment of their spiritual life, thereby creating havoc in the body of Christ.

We live in a generation where many people chide and rubbish the prophetic due to some of the reasons I have mentioned above. In my next article, I will pinpoint other reasons to help put the prophetic ministry in its right state in God’s prophetic agenda.

Our prophets should be awakened to put things in the right order to bring clarity to the prophetic ministry and stop the confusions, fights and frustrations among individuals, homes, families, institutions, churches and nations.

The day of games and childish playing in the prophetic ministry should be stopped and replaced with God-fearing men imbued with godly character; those who are well trained in the things of the Spirit to deeply understand the operation of the prophetic call and how it plays a major role in God’s salvific agenda.

In conclusion, many people, today, like prophecies but dislike prophetic messages because of character and lifestyle challenges faced by some prophets or ministers of God in this last days.

However, one thing we should bear in mind is that, every sent vessel of God has his or her character flaws as seen even throughout the scriptures.

Our focus, therefore, should not be on the flaws of the vessels God will use to communicate His message to us. Rather, we should learn to walk in obedience and carefulness of God’s prophetic words to us and be guided by the Holy Spirit for clarity and understanding.
