THE HUMAN RIGHTS MIRAGE

“All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient”(1 Corinthians 6:12)

Human rights is a universal declaration of  international document adopted by the United Nation General Assembly that enshrines the rights and freedom of all human beings…regardless of  sex , religion , race , nationality , social and political standings of all people .

This is a brilliant code to protect all people every where for freedom of movement and engagements.

What is therefore the mirage of the human rights act?

The mirage of the human rights act is what the above verse seeks to bring to our attention.

All things are lawful to me…this means I have the rights to engage and dabble in all things as  it seems good to me..all things could be exercised by me..

Apostle Paul   confirms human rights here and he says all things are lawful for him within the right act as society claims today.. there is nothing new under the sun.

The mirage of the human rights is the focus of this article .. this article wants us to keep three ( 3 ) things namely self respect, carefulness in our actions and responsibility for our actions.

The human rights mirage is that the rights do not exonerate anyone from the consequences of our own actions.

The human rights act cannot stop the regrettable consequences of our actions .

For every action there is an equal reaction. This generation needs to be careful because the consequences of our ignorance to best practises cannot be handled by the human  rights act.

All things are lawful but not all things are expedient ..

Expedient means something convenient or practical but improper and immoral .

The rights to do what we think good is available but tomorrow it will not be convenient for us … We will regret it.

We have to weigh all the rights we have in the face of their expediency.

It’s my right but it may not be proper or morally liberating .. I could ignore this truth but the consequences is inevitable .

The human rights act is great but can’t liberate us from the consequences of our actions hence the human rights mirage..

Our generation must awaken into realities of yesterday . The old paths where the fear of God , faith in God , love for wisdom and godly legacy was vital. Society today makes us cry by the kind of legacies we want to leave behind when we are no more .

It’s time to think about the legacy we want to leave hence all things are not expedient to us.
