We have established that the spiritual atmosphere is often influenced by the powers of darkness (Ephesians 6:12).
However, it is the prayer of believers that transforms the atmosphere, impacting the natural realm—the political, social, and economic scenes of a nation.
What the Church needs to understand is that it is prayer based on the Word and energized by the Holy Spirit that engages God’s power and enforces His will on earth.
God performs His Word, not our emotions or desires. He actively watches over His Word to fulfill it.
The Holy Spirit operates through God’s Word to bring about His will, power, and transformation, and angels respond to it (Jeremiah 1:12; Ephesians 6:17; Psalm 103:20).
This is why Jesus said in John 15:7 that if His words abide in us, we shall ask whatever we desire, and it shall be done.
Moreover, to transform the spiritual atmosphere, our prayers must be energized by the Holy Spirit.
It is the energized (Greek: energeo) prayer of a righteous man that makes tremendous power available.
Such prayer is dynamic and produces wonderful results (James 5:16). Thank God that it is the Holy Spirit who energizes our prayers.
This is why the Spirit of God, through Apostle Paul, encourages us to pray all kinds of prayers in the Spirit—under His inspiration, direction, motivation, and power.
As we pray according to God’s Word in the Spirit, we can push back the powers of darkness and allow God’s will to prevail in our world instead of the forces of darkness.
