You Need To Know These Behaviours Baby Christians Show

A PERSON can be 35 years of age, and yet be a baby Christian. A believer can be a member of a church for years; he can be appointed as a deacon, prayer warrior, singer or an usher, yet may be a baby in Christ.

The purpose of this short article is to inform and educate you about some behaviours which baby Christians show in their lives.

Just as mothers feed babies with breast milk for their growth, baby Christians can only be fed with pure spiritual milk which is basic teachings of the Word of God. Examples may be repentance from dead works and faith towards God.

“Like newborn infants (baby Christians), long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation…” (1 Peter 2:2).

The Bible makes it clear that immature believers need milk. They do not need solid food or meat to grow because they cannot digest it. Solid food of the Word of God may include the deity of Christ Jesus and the concepts of God, Satan and sin.

In the Church, it is difficult for baby Christians to tell the difference between a false prophet and a true prophet, a true teacher and a false one or self-styled pastor and genuine one.

They cannot tell the difference between the true gospel of Christ and the false one generated from the pit of hell. And hardly can they detect the spirit of error in the Church.

As a result, they do whatever any pastor tells them to do. They are often deceived into paying money for healing, deliverance or other blessings of God.

They do not know that Christ paid it all for them on the Cross of Calvary, and that they only need faith to assess them

Baby Christians have no confidence to ask about the biblical basis of things pastors do or ask them to do. They say Amen to everything any pastor tells them.

Just as our natural babies eat anything they find on the floor or they are given, baby Christians grab every preaching and teaching they are exposed to.

They may read any book they find without considering the negative impact it may have on their lives.

They have no idea whether the message they are fed is poisonous to their spiritual health or not.

They are easily offended in the church at any provocation.

Unless leaders follow up on them, baby Christians will stay away from church meetings for weeks and even months. They feel loved when they are prayed for.

A baby Christian is the one who may stop attending church meetings and when he is asked he may explain that his pastor did not visit him when he fell sick.

As baby Christians grow up spiritually, these behaviours gradually disappear in their lives and positive behaviours begin to appear in their lives for the glory of God.
