CHRISTIANS HAVE different problems facing them. Some of them are physical; others are spiritual.
However, one physical problem which most Christians have in this age of easy access to information and knowledge is a problem of ignorance.
The Bible, a compilation of 66 books written for Christians and published in various languages can be accessed in most parts of the world, yet most Christians are ignorant about its contents.
This is a major problem worth discussing for repentance and solution.
The Bible, other Christian books and articles are meant to be read for knowledge, understanding, wisdom, obedience and blessing.
God inspired His prophets and apostles to write His Word to among others inform and educate His children about how they must live in the world.
Thus, Paul, the apostle, always wanted believers to read his letters or books.
“I put you under oath before the Lord to have this letter read to all the brothers” (1 Thessalonians 5:27).
“And when this letter has been read among you, have it also read in the church of the Laodiceans; and see that you also read the letter from Laodicea” (Colossians 4:16).
Christians who do not read or will not want to be read to are a big problem because they are ignorant.
Those who are ignorant are led astray, deceived and exploited by false prophets and teachers. They eventually perish because they are blind.
Let us stimulate one another to read. Let us cultivate the habit of reading God’s Word slowly, repeatedly, meditatively, attentively and prayerfully.
Read God’s Word because it is food for your soul. Read it because it is assuring and comforting. Read it because it makes you wise.
Read it because it is light unto your path. Read it because it empowers you to overcome sin and error. Read it because it is spirit and life.
Read the Bible and other Christian materials as if the success of your life depends upon knowing them.
Read the Bible and you see God’s promises become alive and real to you. You will testify about the goodness of God.
Finally, read because those who do exercise their brain
