The Christian life is a journey from glory to glory. Before the ages, God had a redemptive wisdom hidden in Him that was ordained for our glory. This redemptive wisdom was God’s plan to redeem fallen humanity through Christ Jesus (1 Corinthians 2:7).
The Lord manifested in the flesh to carry out this plan and bring us to glory (Hebrews 2:10). It is important for us to understand the distinction between the glory that is now ours in Christ, which we are called to partake of, and the glory that is to come—the eternal glory that awaits us.
This glorious journey begins with the new birth, where we enter into God’s Kingdom to partake of His glory through Christ (1 Thessalonians 2:12; 2 Thessalonians 2:14).
However, this should not be a static experience, but a progressive journey of increasing manifestation of God’s glory. It continues progressively throughout our lives on earth.
As we behold the glory of the Lord in the Word of God, we are constantly being transformed into His very image, with ever-increasing splendour, from one degree of glory to another by the Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 3:18).
And at the coming of the Lord, we will enter into His eternal glory, to which He has called us (Colossians 3:4; 1 Peter 5:10).
The Christian life is indeed a journey from glory to glory—from the glory received in Christ, to the glory progressively manifested in us, and finally to the eternal glory that awaits us in His presence.
