Adam’s Life Of Glory

The Writer

God’s ultimate purpose in creating humanity was for His glory (Isaiah 43:7). Adam was, therefore, uniquely equipped to partake of God’s glory, reflect God’s glory, and bring glory to God.

God created Adam in His own image, according to His likeness (Genesis 1:26–27). As God’s image-bearer, Adam was created with the capacity to express God’s moral character—righteousness, holiness, goodness, love, faithfulness, and truth.

God then blessed Adam and empowered him to fulfil his divine assignment: to be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, subdue it, and exercise dominion over it (Genesis 1:28).

Furthermore, Psalm 8:5 declares that God “crowned him with glory and honour.” Adam was created with dignity, honour, and a unique position within creation as God’s representative on the earth.

Adam’s life was therefore designed to be a reflection of God’s glory. His character was to reflect God’s character, his dominion was to reflect God’s government, and his obedience was to bring honour and glory to his Creator.

Sadly, sin interrupted this glorious purpose. But in Christ, God has restored what was lost, so that humanity may once again live for the glory of God.
