When a Pastor Mocks Jesus This Way

We humbly ask you not to be alarmed by the information we are about to share with you.
Rather, it should open your spiritual eyes to identify pastors who have wrong impressions about Jesus Christ today.
There are pastors who do not sincerely believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as the world’s Saviour with superior authority and power over the devil.
A few years ago., a pastor said while preaching that Jesus Christ was afraid of the devil when He walked the earth to preach the Gospel of the Kingdom of heaven.
The pastor quoted the biblical verse below to support his erroneous teaching.
“I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no claim on me, but I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Rise, let us go from here.’ (John 14:30-31)
According to the pastor, the fact that Jesus told His disciples to rise, and leave the place where they were possibly sitting meant that He was running away from the devil when He saw Him coming.
He said if Jesus was really powerful, He would wait for the ruler of the world who is the devil to meet him.
The pastor laughed at Jesus Christ mockingly after saying these things.
Is it not surprising for a pastor of a church to say a thing like this?
There is no doubt that some pastors just mention the name of Jesus to deceive people that they too are His servants.
But they are not. They do not genuinely believe in Him and as a result they do not abide in His doctrines.
That is why they do not preach and teach about Jesus but about Abraham, Isaac, Job, Ahithophel, David, Solomon, Ahab and Jezebel.
In other words, these pastors always preach from the Old Testament without seeing the need to preach from the New Testament where the finished work of Jesus Christ is presented.
But is it true that Jesus was afraid of the devil? Certainly not! There were several instances where Jesus encountered the devil and easily defeated him.
Firstly, Jesus overpowered the devil when he tempted the Son of God to sin (Matthew 4:1-11). That took place before Jesus started His public ministry,
Secondly, John writes that “…the reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8).
Thirdly, Luke records in Acts 10:38 that Jesus went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil,
Fourthly, Matthew again records how demons upon encountering Christ Jesus helplessly cried out, “What have you to do with us, O Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?” Matthew 8:29
We can talk about several other instances where Jesus Christ demonstrated superior power over the devil and his demons.
How then shall a pastor say that Jesus was afraid of the devil? It is the devil who is afraid of Jesus.
After trying unsuccessfully to tempt Jesus to sin, Matthew writes that the devil left Jesus. Notice that it was not Jesus who left but the devil.
This should remind today’s Christians to carefully examine the teachings of pastors before they follow them.
“Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son,” (2 John 1:9).
