Knowing God By Christ’s Revelation

“I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them” (John 17:26).

God cannot be known to anyone unless iHe is revealed by Jesus (Mt 11:27), and it is those who receive this revelation who know that God sent Him (John 17:25). Such people receive a deeper knowledge of God by having an abiding knowledge of Jesus through the Holy Spirit (16:14). For Jesus is the visible image of God so God is revealed by Him.

The Holy Spirit comes to live in believers in Jesus Christ to continually reveal Him to them (John 16:15). He pours God’s love into their hearts (Rom 5:5) to give them a greater revelation of Christ’s love that surpasses knowledge, so that they might be filled with the fullness of God (Eph 3:19).

Therefore, the highest knowledge of the love of Christ is by faith and not by knowing.

Jesus wants His disciples’ knowledge of God to be increasing always by the anointing they receive from Him that makes them know all things (1 John 2:20,27). This is the abundant life He offers all of them (John 10:10).

It is written that to bear fruit upward, one must take root downward (Isa 37:31). Similarly, to bear God’s love as a fruit, one must be rooted deeply in the revelation knowledge of Christ Jesus given by the Holy Spirit. Therefore, it can be said that God is not known by knowledge acquired, but by  knowledge revealed by Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit.

To know God, one must have a revelation from Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit, who indwells every Christian, so yield to the Spirit for a deeper knowledge of Christ and God.

PRAYER: Father, thank You for giving the Holy Spirit to all who get saved in Christ, in order for them to have an increasing revelation of you. May they depend on the Holy Spirit to continually increase their knowledge of you. Amen.
